RYH Newsletter 5.14.20

We hope that you & your family are healthy and safe. This newsletter is brief. Information overload + foggy brain = here’s what you need to know this week:

- Thanks to the 1000+ parents at 281 schools who have already completed our RYH Remote Learning Survey.

Use our map here (and below) to check your school:

  • Does your school have respondents?

  • Do you have parent contacts at a school with no or only one respondent?

  • Is there a school or neighborhood Facebook group or discussion board where you can post our survey & encourage parents to take it?

SHARE THE SURVEY! It takes 5 minutes. It’s available in English | Chinese | Spanish | Urdu | Arabic | Polish. PLEASE SHARE with other CPS PARENTS. Wait… did YOU take the survey? We will be sharing results at the end of the month. Please fill out one per student.

- Another action you can take: Sign onto our CPS Stakeholder Letter | Carta de Firma para Participantes de CPS. Join us in building public accountability during remote learning!

Virtual events

Today we tuned into a great discussion- you can watch it here- Imagining and Demanding Educational Justice in the Time of Coronavirus. Our live tweets are here if you want a synopsis. We were very honored to get a shout out THREE times by 3 different panelists for our work!

🙌 The first shout out was for creating a space for the Special Education Community via our weekly Zoom calls which we host Tuesdays, 1-2:30PM. You can register here for Tues, May 19, when our friends from Equip for Equality will be giving a Remote Learning During COVID-19 Know Your Rights presentation.

🙌 The second shout out was for creating a space for LSC members via our weekly LSC Solidarity Zoom calls which we host Thursdays, 6-7:30PM. You can register for the next call, Th, May 21, here

🙌 The third shout out was a recommendation to follow RYH for our “substantive resources.” Here is our big & clunky COVID-19 Resource page. We try to stay on top of the latest by posting & checking links from both IL State Board of Education (ISBE) and CPS to try to make sense of the world as it is. From us too: CPS Grab & Go Meal Sites: Basics + Sites + Delivery Form.
