Greetings All, there is a lot going on in the ed world this Fall!

Teachers Ratify Contract
79% of teachers who cast ballots voted to approve the 3 year contract Tuesday. The Board also needs to vote to approve.

The ERSB update

The referendum for an elected representative school board (ERSB) will be on the ballot in over 240 precincts on November 6th. Thanks again to all the RYH volunteers who worked so hard during Phase 1. If you’re motivated to get this done, we need you to help with flyering, etc. Look for a list of precincts on our website tomorrow.

Townhall Meeting on ERSB in Austin Last Tuesday
RYH participated in ERSB meeting in Austin on October 2nd. Thanks to Representative LaShawn Ford for sponsoring the forum and to community organizers Dwayne Truss and Valerie Leonard for coordinating. RYH was happy to be on the panel to discuss our efforts towards moving to an elected representative school board.

Alderman Sign Resolution for Hearings on School Closings
32 alderman signed a resolution seeking a hearing on school closings and charter expansion.

48th Ward Education Fair
Join Alderman Harry Osterman and the 48th Ward Education Committee for the first-ever local school fair Saturday.  The school fair will highlight 48th ward public and private schools, to give parents an opportunity to learn more about local school offerings. Both elementary and high schools located within the 48th Ward will be represented.
