This Week in Ed 2.6.20: CPS Inspector General quits- plus, this week’s public ed news!
The Sun-Times reported this weekend that the CPS Inspector General (IG), Nicholas Schuler, was “under investigation” due to “accusations he allegedly berated employees.” On Monday, he abruptly quit. On Tuesday, Mayor Lightfoot said she accepted the IG’s resignation because “we need to go in a different direction.” Yesterday, there were new stories with Schuler responding to the situation. This is definitely a story to watch.

Parents received an email from CPS CEO Janice Jackson on Thursday, September 12. It really glossed over the harrowing findings of the US Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights and, instead, discussed the CPS "Comprehensive Plan of Action" which was implemented shortly after the Chicago Tribune exposed rampant sexual abuse within CPS.

This Week in Ed 11.2.18: New CPS data breach impacts 70,000; Plus, school ratings madness
After a temporary CPS employee was fired, she downloaded a database containing names, employee ID numbers, phone numbers, addresses, birth dates, criminal histories and any records associating individuals with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Parents who were in the process of the CPS background check and school volunteer approval process and many CPS employees are saying they received an email last night from CPS indicating their data was downloaded by the former employee.
