Events This Week!

There are a few events happening in the next few days in different parts of the city. Here's a list:

Thursday, June 9, 6:00pm, Vaughn High School, 4355 N. Linder Ave

CPS Budget Crisis Workshop
hosted by Parents 4 Teachers

"CPS is threatening budget cuts up to 40 percent if it doesn’t get help from Springfield. And there’s a real risk our schools won’t have the funds to open in the fall without drastic cuts.

Parents, teachers and students need real leadership from the mayor and City Council, as well as state officials, to avert a crisis that is about to implode. How can a “world class city” fail to fully fund its schools?

Join P4T and others to explore the origins of the current budget crisis and mobilize to win the funding our schools need and deserve. Get armed with the facts and find out what you can do to fight back against further cuts and exploding class sizes. We can’t trust or wait for Springfield to solve our problems. WE NEED TO ACT NOW."

Join City Council members, school and community groups and CTU educators for an intense examination of the state of CPS—from the strength of its educators to the challenges of its students to the financial mess that threatens educational quality. We will come together to identify both short- and long-term solutions to the challenges our schools face."
